The Dimple Desk

This custom Walnut desk was designed as a gift for my wife — a compact, elegant piece meant to live a full second life as our child’s first real workspace. It features a waterfall edge design with a twist (literally), a dovetailed White Oak support rail, and bowtie inlays added purely for beauty — because to me, bowties are the jewelry of woodworking.

While the structure is solid and functional, the build is layered with intention: from the aesthetic “dimples” caused by a miscalculation I chose to embrace, to reflections on what desks truly represent — places where ideas are born, where independence is declared, and where personal futures are drafted.

This was also an experiment in restraint: no drawers, minimal footprint, and a deep respect for the grain and the story it tells. The result is a small but meaningful piece, built on weekends, meant to last generations.
